How do probiotics work?

Probiotics are beneficial live bacteria and yeasts which, when ingested, help maintain a balanced, healthy intestinal microbiota. This is the community of microbes in our digestive tract. Probiotics work by adding “good” bacteria to the gut, which can inhibit the growth of “bad” bacteria, improve intestinal transit and support immune function. In addition, they contribute to the absorption of nutrients and vitamins by maintaining an effective intestinal barrier function and helping to restore the balance of intestinal flora.

A healthy intestinal microbiota is fundamental to the proper functioning of your body.
